Case Study: Part 1
Elizabeth Lee

Clear and Narrow Topic: The US is a great place to live, with major economic growth and it’s also a developed country. Yet, the great number of refugees in the US, is creating an economic unbalance. Many refugees suffer from lack of shelter, food, water, and protection.

1. Organization: USCRI (www. refugees.org)
2. This Organization helps refugees find homes and sustainable jobs. It also helps immigrant orphans find care and give assistance to those who are fleeing from persecution.
3. I like how the organization is not just giving the refugees money. “Do not just give a hungry man a fish, but teach him how to fish”. USCRI is allowing them to contribute to the society instead of being a drag.
4. Yes. Do you focus on any particular country’s refugees, or the whole world? Where does the donation money go? What kind of jobs do you give the refugees? After you resettle a refugee family, do you still keep track of their wellbeing?
5. I can donate money for the cause or volunteer as a person who researches available jobs for the refugees.

International migration and labor laws are a drastic problem. It causes lack of economic growth and injustice. For example, in the US there are lots of refugees creating a huge economic unbalance. Those refugees have a hard time finding food, shelter, water and protection. This can lead to child labor, a form of illegal labor that forces underage children to work instead of pursuing their education. The organization " USCRI" (www.refugees.org) is an organization that helps these refugees. Not only do they give them money, they teach them how to get a job and contribute to society. The organization "Better Factories Cambodia" helps people gain better jobs, change people's working conditions and is trying to prevent child labor.
